I never go without earrings if I can help it. They make the outfit. To me, it’s like, if one’s outfit stands out, then head or neck accessories are a must. Otherwise, all the attention will be going to the clothes and not the face wearing it. Gotta balance out that clothing chi. Wear earrings.
I recently lost my sassy hoop earrings from H&M and am now forced to find another snazzy default set for casual outfits. I have a good-sized earring collection, but those rusty hoops were, by far, my favorite go-to bling for school days when I didn’t feel like getting caught up with matching clothes to jewelry. People pretty much knew me because of them. I wore them so much!
Alas, I may get another pair. But I’m also thinking about going for a different kind of default, perhaps some neutral-colored oversized button earrings a la role model and underground fashion icon extraordinaire, Janelle Monae (pictured above) … you know, just to change it up a bit.
You can button up, too, with any classic button earring design, either circle, square, or other random shapes–
Or, make your ears go ROAR with these 1 3/4 inch tall kitties (I know, HUGE!!!):
The next pair isn’t a button design, but they’re huge, and bigger is better! Take it to the 80’s with this REAL antique design, not the simple imitation ones they sell at H&M:
Button earrings, also known as clip-on earrings, are vintage, attention-grabbing ear paperweights and serve as a fun alternative to the metallic ear trends we all love and cherish. I haven’t really seen these babies in any department stores. Your best bet is vintage clothing stores or online. So get some chunk on those pretty little earlobes of yours right now!
