Happy Olympics Day!

08-08-08 is upon us and it is a momentous event for the entire world. Not only does each country get to experience a sense of national pride, but also a feeling of unity with the everyone-is-invited-party that is mankind. The last time the Olympics were on, I was watching from the TV of my friend’s dorm room. It’s addictive. Floor exercises, running, throwing things, people jumping in water, shootin’ stuff, rasslin’ (all official names of the Olympic games haha). It’s better than what’s on TV right now and it’s usually around the clock. If you can’t sleep at night, which I had a problem with right before I left for college, then you just click to the Olympics and pass the time.

And for the United States, this is an exciting time because they actually got properly outfitted for the event. Instead of wearing sweatsuits at the opening ceremony as if they were going to do some warm-up stretches in the middle of the march, the Americans sported uniforms provided by Ralph Lauren.

Double-vented navy blazers, newspaper boy caps, laurel logos galore, canvas shoes. All apropros.

The men’s navy blazers are actually all sold out. I like the style, but if you’re not in the Olympics, you shouldn’t have one.

Big ups to Ralphie for encouraging this upstart.
