Esquire Covers 75 Years of Men’s Fashion

Esquire has a chronological album outlining the evolution of men’s style for the past 75 years. I decided to post the pictures when men’s fashion reached incredible heights, and when men’s fashion fell to disgusting and depressing lows. I also omitted formal wear from the equation.

And so it begins with a bang.

The confusion begins! There are experiments with color and it is worn loud and proud.

Men’s fashion tries to undo the damage, but not close to it at all. The 80’s are also plagued by a decade’s worth of year-round Christmas sweaters.

Cool and comfortable was the mantra. Baggy was the name of the game and it tarnished the years of my elementary school days. Huge pleats and a too-large coat. This man is totally lost.

Men’s fashion starts to correct itself once the new millennium begins. And this is the moment when becoming impeccably dressed is cool again when Pharrell Williams gives permission.
