FAIL!: Los Angeles Street Fashion

Los Angeles fashion is fairly simple: jeans and a T-shirt. It sounds like almost an outfit emulated (originating in San Francisco, of course) by pretty much all parts of the country and the world. But despite its ubiquity, Angelenos stand behind their uniform. Unfortunately, it holds Los Angeles fashion back. Saturated with an egregious culture known as the Hollywood lifestyle, Los Angeles citizens stick to denim and sometimes expensive denim that no one cares to notice without varying any other parts of their wardrobe. MAYBE they’ll add an unnecessary keffiyeh here and there. I’m not against the standard T-shirt/denim pairing, but I think we should take it as it is and not determine it as Los Angeles fashion. I don’t say this out of spite, but out of concern. Being from Los Angeles, I always wondered why we held ourselves back in terms of pushing any sort of fashion boundaries. It’s embarrassing that we’ve accepted it and the fact is public. For example, the Los Angeles Times Image section attempted to do a Sartorialist-style depiction of Los Angeles Street Fashion on Melrose Avenue. I wondered why they even published the photos because the results are tragic.

How Boring!

Ugh (to those victims up top).

and Ugh (because I wanted to write an article about this).

L.A. hasn’t had its own look since the Crue and the legions of Hair bands ruled the Sunset Strip.

    How unfortunate.

Maybe you should talk about the history of the Crue and the legions of Hair bands that ruled the Sunset Strip
